In 2002, she was recognized by the Tennessean as a member of the Top Forty (40) Under Forty.  She is a graduate of the Young Leaders Council (Class 37), a 2006 graduate of Leadership Law and has served a two (2) year term in the Harry Phillips Inn of Courts. Through her work through with the Lawyer's Association for Women, she has served as the Community Outreach Chairperson for several years.   In 2006, Allegra Walker was elected by her colleagues to serve as the President of the Napier-Looby Bar Association. While in office, Allegra built upon the momentum of the organization, and actively engaged the Nashville community in educational programming and community service.  She later served as the Vice-President of the Napier-Looby Bar Foundation in subsequent years. Allegra Walker currently sits as the General Counsel for the Fisk University Alumni Association Board of Directors, General Counsel of the National Coalition of 100 Black Women of Middle Tennessee Board, serves as a Steering Committee Member for A.W.A.K.E and serves as a member of Mayor Karl Dean's Domestic Violence Assessment Committee.

In 1989, Allegra Walker arrived in Nashville to attend Fisk University where she graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Economics in 1993. Her strong desire for public service through justice led her to the University of Toledo, receiving the Doctorate of Jurisprudence in 1996. Allegra decided that Nashville would be her home and the focus of her service to the community.

Allegra began her public service by joining the Public Defender’s Office as an Assistant Public Defender for six years.  She zealously defended the criminally indigent charged with offenses ranging from driver’s license infractions to criminal homicide. Throughout her tenure with the District Attorney's Office, Allegra prosecuted a multitude of criminal cases; however, she quickly realized that her passion was seeking justice for victims of domestic violence. She recognized the vicious cycle that people experience with domestic violence and has dedicated much of her career to helping people—particularly women—break the cycle.

One of the guiding values that Allegra Walker holds is RESPECT FOR THE LAW AND RESPECT FOR THE PEOPLE. Therefore, in addition to her dedication to the law, she remains dedicated to community service.  She has worked with the Tennessee Coalition to End Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault, the Nashville Coalition to End Domestic Violence, the YWCA (Girls, Inc.), Meharry Medical College, Fisk University, Tennessee State University and area churches – all with the common theme of educating women about the dynamics, dangers and impact of domestic and family violence and elder abuse.  Through her membership with the Napier-Looby Bar Association, she has been a contributing writer in the Nashville Pride as well as worked with this association to sponsor legal clinics throughout the community. Allegra Walker also has affiliations with Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc, The National Coalition of 100 Black Women of Middle Tennessee, the Fisk University General Alumni Association, The Nashville Bar Association, the National Association of Black Prosecutor's, Women in Numbers, The Davidson County Democratic Women, the Boys & Girls Club of Middle Tennessee and the NAACP. In October, 2013, Allegra Walker was honored with the Rep. Sherry Jones Outstanding State Official Award for her work in domestic violence by the Nashville Coalition to End Domestic Violence.
